STEPHEN JACOBS
This week's Inspiration of the week post goes to a man I work very close with. The world on a major scale may not know Stephen Jacobs, but the man has impacted the community largely.

As founder of the non-profit organization Kids Creative, Stephen has taught many to be tolerant of other's ideas and has united a large group of people as creative equals from adults to children.

Born and raised in Minnesota(U.S.) Stephen grew up in the arts especially close to music playing guitar and bass. He is a core member of the children's rock band named The Dirty Sock Funtime Band which plays silly kid songs and has been featured on Noggin's Jack's Big Music Show.

Stephen has also been a middle school English teacher and still teaches in Kids Creative programs all across the city. He tours with the Dirty Socks singing, playing guitar and writing songs that even adults can have a good time to.

The reason the man is such an inspiration is because when you follow his work he promotes creativity, instills confidence in the youth, and has a history of work that has done nothing but help to build up the community. He is actually my personal studio guitar and bassist who has helped with tracks such as my Billie Jean 2009 and you can look forward to see that he is one of the executive producers of my album "A Musician's Tale" which is coming soon. He personally helps to keep me in a state of mind that is always receptive to all creativity in the air and helps to produce a strong and positive product.

Who would have known that this sight would be something known as mammatus clouds? I grew up in New York City and I am in no way shape or form an ignorant person, but my knowledge of nature is very limited. This is just me being honest. Inspiration of the Week -Week3

Summer has begun, and its the first week of July. The Fourth is here in just a few days. With that being said, this weeks inspiration is an American painter by the name of Archibald Willard.

Archibald Willard fought in a volunteer army in the American Civil War. He also painted many different scenes from the war. Very little is know about Archibald Willard.

What we do know is that he painted "The Spirit of '76", Previously known as "Yankee Doodle"

This painting was slept on by art critics of the time. They compared it to a cartoon.
BUT it caught the attention of the public eye. So Williard painted several variations of the now-famous scene. The original is believed to be displayed in Abbot Hall (Marblehead, Massachusetts)

"Spirit of 76" is such an Interesting name. In 1776 The Declaration of Independence was written and signed. America Declared it was Independent and free from the rule of Great Britain.

America was basically saying " We are Free, No one Rules Us"

In the Present day I feel that our generation is the Generation Of the Free.
Freedom to Do what you want and explore life and all its Goodness.

For those of you unfamiliar with his inspiring work, I'd recommend you at least get on google. Here's a quick write up.

Vaughn Bode was born in Utica, New York in 1941. The self-proclaimed "cartoon gooroo" was one of the most influential American cartoonist of our times. His style inspired animated movies such as Ralph Bakshi’s cult feature WIZARDS, as well as the look of the graffiti art that began in New York City and spread all over the world.

Best known for his character CHEECH WIZARD, which appeared in National Lampoon between 1971 and 1975, Vaughn Bodé was an incredibly prolific artist. His works include COBALT-60, DEADBONE, JUNKWAFFEL and MACHINES.

Inspspiration of the week - week 2

Mike has been an inspiration to us all. The man was a symbol of a great artist and we do not have that today. When the music nowadays is over-saturated with labels trying to make a quick dollar off of an artist that may be "marketable" it takes away from the artistry. Evaluating Micheal Jackson's artistic value you can see that it is higher than any other performance artist that has come since him. A great performer, singer, and with records that provide entertainment with great concepts and his completely innocent package it will be hard for anyone to ever match that.

Even when you look at dance . . . Since the beginning of time there has been dance, and it has evolved into so many styles, but when you look at MJ you see that he is a dance entity of his own. So when you talk about the man, he has now become a part of the vocabulary of entertainment.

I myself am an artist, and the man has inspired me to grow past any other artistic norms. And although I am a Hip Hop artist, I still needed him to have the perception of the world I have today. A few months ago I actually made a re-make to his "Billie Jean" record because I thought it was a really creative and fun record. Historically it even serves as a monument, because "Billie Jean" was the first African American video to be played on MTV. With my version, I tried to put my own flip and add some humor to it to make it more urbanized and modern but I could not have made the record without Micheal coming first.

Its sad that the world didn't get to see what else he had to bring forth with his art. I was really anxious to hear the new album.

However I know that his music will always last and give us a moment of dance, escape, and in the right setting with songs like "Man in the Mirror" something to reflect upon in our own lives and better ourselves.

We will miss you MJ.

Inspiration of the week - week 1

So here's the 1st of a series of posts you will start to see here from week to week. Lethal Inspiration is soon to come to you with a new season of clothing and we want you to take a step further into the "Lethal Mindset".

Week one features the one and only "2-Pac"

Born June 16, 1971 as Tupac Amaru Shakur, "2-Pac" has been a big inspiration to us and to many as a rapper, actor, poet, philosopher, and social activist. Pac had an aggressive rhyme style and a wealth of knowledge. Many look at his career as the birth of a rebellion and, his music as well as the roles he played as an actor were empowering in such a way that he played on the emotion of anger to pump you up to do something about the situations of negativity in one's life.

2-Pac found his way to fame through initially being a roadie and backup dancer for the alternative hip hop group Digital Underground. His childhood years was inspired by his mother "Afeni Shakur" who was a black panther, and his school days in The Baltimore School for the Performing Arts.

Being the rebel and activist he was, as well as being around "Ghetto" affiliates Pac did some jail time where you can see some of his writing started to boom. With more poetry, and even scripts written I think the time allowed Pac to delve deeper into his inner self.

Unfortunately on the night of September 7, 1996, Shakur was shot four times in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas. He died several days later of respiratory failure and cardiac arrest at the University Medical Center on September 13, 1996.

A statement of works (SOW) is a document used in the systems development (with ICN) life cycle. An organization desiring to have work done (i.e., the prospective customer) produces an SOW as part of a Request for Proposals. PACE University fashion show . . .

So you know I support any and everything that is positive on the come up. I'm really big on the underground struggle. And although this wasn't exactly an uderground event, I met a few people who are definitely on the come up.
The guy in the Torch tee has a previous portfolio of modeling for Unico just for starters. His name is Jose and is from Long Island. He's an international business major and I think is headed towards making something crazy Huge happening in the future. We have been in contact quite frequently since the event, and I think together we can make something happen.
This girl in the Blue LINY crew neck is dumb cool! Cherie has modeled for Animal House and is also an up and coming designer. She should be working on getting me to perform at PACE, but I'm not going to completely hold her to that - lol. It would be defintely appreciated though, epecially with the anticipation of this new album dropping for myself.Here goes the famous Tj again along with Cherie and another one of the models(Sorry I forgot the name).

Overall this was a cool experience. A little bit outside of our direct crowd, but definitely worth it and pretty fun. Especially bugging out backstage and joking around as well as networking with people.Here is one last picture from backstage. I will definitely look foward to working with any of these people in the near future.

Networking party - Lethal Inspiration

So last week we got invited to a big networking party hosted by Concept Magazine at Uno's Chicago Grill in Parkchester. It was a pretty good event. We met a lot of people, and got to show off the line. We also got a bunch of advice from Business owners who are a lot older and just spoke from their experience. It definitely was a great experience. Here are a few more pictures from the event.So we went to the event, myself, Squeaksz, and you guys should know who TJ(Tejon) is by now. He is a poet/songwriter that I work very close with and he also works with our Lethal Inspiration Public Relations/ Advertising department.

Well, at the end of the night everyone got these goodie bags with promotional items from each of the companies that participated in the event. We had a Lethal Brochure in the bag and passed out a million business cards. But one thing I think pretty useless at my age in the bag was a sexual enhancement drug named "Sextacy". So, I have been telling a few people about the comic book I have been working on entitled "The Freedom Theory". By listening to "idiot-pods", watching "idiot-boxes", playing with "idiot-s-p's", and communicating through "idiot-kicks" we have been watered down to beings who are dazed. However, two children stumble upon a force that can change it all which is known as Boo (or The Spirit of Inquiry). This begins a process of questioning and self-empowerment that re-writes history in truth rather than what has been falsely presented for so long.

Bronx Museum of the Arts

So this past friday, Squeaksz and myself went to this event at the Bronx Museum of the arts which is held monthly. We were accompanied by fellow actors and recording artists Azalea, and Tejon all just to support our fellow artists in the community as well as expand upon our networks.The showcase featured music by Sucio Smash, Dj Evil Dee, and Mr. Len. There were also performances from Sadat X, AOK collective, S.O.U.L. Purpose, and who to everyone else was a special guest - Fresh Daily. Funny thing was Daily was the one who told me to come through to the event in the first place because he said he was performing. I met Fresh Daily about a week back after the ALIEN event on the train we have been speaking since then. He is definitely a pretty cool and humble dude. The performances were great. The crowd was cool. And we definitely made a lot of contacts. 99% chance I will be back in there next month.

The night ended with us all grabbing something to eat at the local "hood" chicken spot. Want proof? Look at my partner here hungry for his chicken - lol

Breaking Night

Tuesday was one hell of a day. Waking up at 6:30 and not getting home until 7:00 the following morning, I felt as if I was the host that was fed upon - lol.(If you get what I'm saying based on the picture above - actually a candy)

Anyway, my day started with a long day at the clinic with wifey and recieving another sonogram of my child which should be coming any day now. But after that I went to school for my Sociology class. I got out of school at 9:00 that night and proceeded to meet up with Jaron. The reason being was we were waiting for Chris to get out of work, and head over to Squeaks house to work on this site. I'm warning you though - We ripped this season! With two photoshoots; one indoor/studio shoot, and one outdoor/lifestyle shoot so you get the concept of the season better, along with a better shot of the clothing. With this great improvement as a brand, we have to bring you a new website layout so with all of that work on our plates I got home tired this morning and knocked out.

To end this, leading into wednesday I went to go meet with some PACE university representatives throwing a fashion show for the school on the 29th that want us to be a part of the show. So yet another fashion show for us to present our vision to more people coming soon . . .

Alien Sample sale

Hey, i wonder who that guy was with the curly har and the purple shirt? - lol. Nah, but last friday myself along with Chris and Jaron from the brand went to Alien's sample sale. I wanted to show love and cop a skully but they were sold out. Its cool though. All is Love.

Anyway, the event was a short yet fun little networking spot until we got shut down early by management. Maybe they were scared when Theophilus London and Ninja Sonik got on stage. Theophilus showed love after we had our little rap cypher on the side and when he went on stage threw on the Swagga' Like Us instrumental, calling kats to come out of the crowd and spit off the top on the beat.

All in all, a cool event and ALIEN are some cool dudes. This post is a little late, but o well. I still had to show love

So its been a minute. Crazy busy, photoshoot for the new season . . . we're about to re-vamp the site . . . Teaching Urban Art and Urban Music with Kids Creative and Oasis after-school programs who are partnering up this year . . . Video editing for Manhattan Nieghborhood Network . . . Not to mention working on a release of a comic book including all of my own custom characters that you will soon be meeting in the fall season. But life is good, it seems I have been on a pretty good luck streak lately. It feels as if some supreme source is just leading me to every thing I need lately and it feels good. However I'm not going to sit here and act like it hasn't been hard work, and at the end of the day I have been a little sleep deprived. So yesterday night I kind of took some time off.

After teaching class I met up with wifey and we went to this nice little Japanese spot and had some Shrimp Tempora with brown rice and an order of California Rolls which really hit the spot. Wifey ate up the warm meal, but she isn't really a sushi person like I am. Over the sumer I made sure I had my sushi at least once a week.(Hint: want to get cool with me - get me some Japanese food - lol)
After that we proceeded to Coldstone, which always hits the spot. Sometimes I feel the founder was inspired by a being greater than us all . . . Nutter Butter Ice Cream - Crushed Reeses - Caramel - Mashed Graham Crackers . . . MMMMMMMMMMM Yummy! . . . What size? The Love it - lol.

After this me and wifey went to go chill by the pier on the West Side of Manhattan by 54th street since we were in the area. It was a relaxing time. Amazingly not even one slight bit of an arguement and no mood swings(Just kidding. But any man wifed up knows what I'm talking about) But I feel in this crazy fast paced moving world we live in today, you have to treat yourself and chill sometimes. Especially when your focus is changing the world. - You need that time to re-collect after you distribute so much of yourself out to the community.

Baby Shower pt. 2

Like I said earlier, there were two showers. This is actually from the first one last saturday that me and my mother organized and threw. Funny story actually. For the guys out there with a special woman in thier life, you can understand why. The whole day I was just pissing her off and making her mad before we got there to make the surprise more intense when she realized what was going on that night. But I can definitely say that I feel blessed in all that I have recieved for my child and the people who came out to show love at the event. The reason why I do what I do here at Lethal Inspiration is because of my support system, without it I am nothing. The people around me who have showerd love and had influence in building me up as a human being mentally, and spiritually is the reason this brand even exists.

Also, I have my baby shower was saturday that my mom organized. Then we actually had a second shower yesterday with a Catholic sister's group we know named the Sister's of life which help out young pregnant mother's. They are kindhearted people and between the two showers it seems my kid is going to be even "fresher" than me - lol. Nah, but we got all of our essentials taken care of and I have defninitely been blessed with all. Its only a matter of time now before I get to meet my little homie, so I just have to keep on the grind as usual. I also have this new track named "Conquer" that I have been working on and I wil post it for you guys soon. It's about my whole becoming a father experience.

I would say more, but time is limited and I am in my data analysis class here at devry right now and I'm multi-tasking so I will be posting definitely by saturday and fill you in with the rest of my past two week's experiences.

Friday's the big day. Goldmine's Fall Fashion show is coming up on friday, and we just finished shooting our entry video within the past few hours. That gives me until friday for the editing work, but I'll get it done. I hope You guys are ready to see what we have in store for fall, because this friday is where you will be first to see it.
In the picture above you will see recording artist/slam poet/actor "LVG" from Tha' Works Records, as well as Chris who is one of our fellow Lethal Inspiration members who you guys have seen yet not had a chance to get to know yet. This thing has been my give-away for way too long now. People see this bag from miles around and recognize it as "Hey! That's Feel-X!". This bookbag was an idea we wished to release in the Inaugural Spring Collection, however only one was made and I am the owner. Originally it was blank grey canvas and was meant to be an "artist's canvas" to be worn. I have put this to use along with some of my colleagues and have made it a walking graph infested nieghborhood on my back.

I'm looking to do this Drum and Bass/Hip Hop crossover kind of record. I met this guy who does this kind of techno/drum and bass/New-age sounding stuff, and we're looking to do a big colaboration in the near future. AS soon as it's done I will post if for you to hear and call me out on wierdoness of it. lol.

For those of you who have no idea what Drum and bass is like, check this out.

You already know Feel-X as a really conceptual person, and sometimes I get criticized for being too serious. However, I am a very fun and joking/play around kind of person when you are around me enough. My reason for being so serious is that I just feel that there are a lot of things in our world today that need to be changed, and it is up to every person to play thier own part in the revolution. I also believe that if you want to become something or get something, then you need to constantly think about it. For example, if you want a certain car you have to have pictures all around. You might want to go to the auto show and sit in it proceeding to visualise your self driving it in the future. It may sound corny but its true - YOU CAN DO WHATEVER YOU WANT TO DO IF YOU PUT YOUR MIND TO IT!

But let me end this with a simple qoute to live with in your day to day life . . .

Sorry for the long title - lol, but I met this guy about a week ago at this poetry event I went to out in Brooklyn. Originally from Wisconsin, Incompetech is a dope composer! His main focus for a long time has been doing movie soundtracks, but after meeting him there might be a Feel-X colabo coming soon. His musical ear is pretty well trained as he makes his tracks in his basement lab in Brooklyn. Anyway, I was checking out his website and he had this mock trailer I made for fun. Check it out. It's pretty funny.

The film does not and will not exist, but I'll the soundtrack is completely original and in my eyes - DOPE!
